Gaining experience through doing is a good way to sharpen skills you already have. One way to do this is through volunteering.

I have volunteered my services on several occasions. Not only is it rewarding to help someone in need but, I’ve also been able to sharpen the skills that I already have as well as pick up some new skills. I find volunteering very rewarding and fulfilling.

I work full time outside the home as well as run a part time virtual assistance business. I have very little time to volunteer onsite, even though I would love to. On the other hand, I also want to give back and help others that are less fortunate than I am. My solution has been virtual volunteering.

I know there are a lot of business owners that frown upon volunteering your services. I completely disagree, volunteering my services from time to time has done nothing but enhance my business and my skills.
